UNION SQUARE, NY — L train service was shut down between Manhattan and Brooklyn during the early-evening commute Wednesday due to a pair of "unauthorized people on the tracks," according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
L train service had "resumed with delays" by 5 p.m., the MTA said.

Service was completely halted for almost an hour between the Bedford Avenue stop in Williamsburg and the 8th Avenue station in Manhattan after two trespassers were discovered on foot inside the subway tunnel, somewhere between 6th Avenue and Union Square, an MTA spokesman said.
"These two individuals were not supposed to be on the tracks," an NYPD spokeswoman said.
Cops caught one of trespassers and transported that person to Bellevue Hospital for a medical evaluation, according to the NYPD. However, police said the other person got away.
